HOW TO CHANGE THE BLADE ON A FISKARS ROTARY CUTTER
Regularly changing your rotary cutter blade keeps your Fiskars Rotary Cutter working its best. You'll know it's time to change the blade if your rotary cutter isn't performing as well as you'd expect. Keep an eye out for symptoms of dullness or damage, such as the blade skipping sections, requiring more pressure to make a cut, fraying fabric edges, or not cutting all the way through your materials. If you notice these or any other issues with your rotary cutter, it's a good idea to swap it out for a new one. It's also a smart move to change your rotary cutter blade when you start a new project for optimal performance. Check out the step-by-step instructions below to learn how to change Fiskars Rotary Cutter Blades, and download the illustrated instructions at the bottom of this post for further reference.
These instructions apply to Fiskars Rotary Cutters with a standard blade hub—other styles of rotary cutters (even some Fiskars rotary cutters) may not operate the same way. Standard Fiskars rotary cutters can be identified by their thumb nut that screws on and off. Let's dive into the instructions!
STEP 1: UNSCREW THE THUMB NUT
Unscrew the thumb nut, remove it, and set it aside. The nut is located on the back of the rotary cutter, directly behind the blade hub.
STEP 2: REMOVE THE BLADE HUB
Hold on to the blade hub and lift the body of the rotary cutter away to remove the blade hub and the used blade. While the blade is removed, take the opportunity to wipe away any dust or fibers from the body of the rotary cutter, particularly the area where the blade usually sits.
STEP 3: DISCARD & REPLACE THE BLADE
Carefully remove the used blade from the hub and place the new blade in its place. Place the old blade in the used packaging and tape closed to discard.
STEP 4: REPLACE THE BLADE HUB
Place the new blade and the hub back on the rotary cutter handle.
STEP 5: RE-SCREW THE NUT
Replace the thumb nut and re-tighten.
